These boozy, creamy and crunchy Apple, Amarula and Biscoff Desserts are the perfect treat for dad this Father's Day. With layers of sautéed cinnamon apples, thick vanilla cream, and crunchy Biscoff crumbs, its a deliciously grown-up take on an apple crumble! If you haven't tried Biscoff cookies yet, you are in for a treat. These delicious Dutch biscuits have a caramelised, lightly spiced flavour which complements the apples perfectly. All that's needed to complete the dessert is a creamy vanilla layer, made with Lancewood Double Cream Vanilla Yoghurt. This imparts a delicious vanilla flavour and decadently creamy texture, while cutting through the...

If the thought of oats brings to mind bland, stodgy porridge, then I highly recommend you try these Baked Oat Cups instead! They may look and taste like muffins but they're actually a pretty nutritious snack. Made with oats, yoghurt, eggs, and honey, they're perfect for adding to lunchboxes or enjoying as a breakfast on the go (we all have those hectic mornings where there is just no time for anything else!). Whether you go for the fruity, apple baked oats or slightly more indulgent peanut butter choc-chip version, they're incredibly quick and easy to make - just pop everything...

Today is a glorious day - it is Apple Pie Day! I've teamed up with Dutoit Agri to host an Apple Pie Bake-along this evening, where I will use their Golden Delicious apples to make my favourite apple pie recipe live on Instagram. The Dutoit family have been farming fruit for over 120 years, and now harvest over 130 000 tons of apples every year! They currently produce 13 different apple varietals, each one with it's own unique characteristics, and have a few more exciting varietals in development (including an apple with red flesh!). I chose Golden Delicious apples for...

Edible Gifts, Recipes, Sweets & Treats / 06.12.2021

I love the idea of giving edible gifts to friends and family over the festive season. A box of Bakers Choice Assorted® makes a great stocking filler or hostess gift so I like to keep a few boxes on hand. If I have time though, I use my favourite Bakers Choice Assorted® biscuits to make yummy treats with like this this Nuttikrust® Apple Pie Fudge. With flavours of baked apples, cinnamon, white chocolate and Nuttikrust® biscuits, each indulgent bite is reminiscent of a slice of warm apple pie with a scoop of ice cream!Although fudge usually requires a sugar thermometer and...

Sponsored. 14 June is International Cupcake Day, that’s right – an entire day dedicated to cupcakes! When I hear the word “cupcake”, the image that comes to mind is that of a classic vanilla cupcake topped with a huge swirl of pink icing, decorated generously with sprinkles. The perfect treat for any birthday party!  However, in order to honour the humble cupcake I wanted to do something extra-special. What I really love about cupcakes is that you can remove a little of the centre and fill it up with any number of delicious fillings. Then, once the cupcake is iced, this filling...

Sponsored.   13 May is Apple Pie Day, and this is one holiday I am super-excited to get on board with! Although Apple Pie is considered an all-American dessert, it was actually invented by the Brits back in the 14th century and included figs, pears, raisins and saffron. It was only in the 18th century that the first apple pie recipe was printed in America where it quickly gained popularity, and is now considered America’ favourite dessert. In the spirit of celebrating this delicious, comforting dessert I went about developing an Apple Pie recipe with a twist. Replacing the pastry on top with a lattice of...

Sponsored.Apple crumble is one of my absolute favourite desserts. Especially in winter, when I love to eat it warm from the oven, with a generous side of custard! Even I can’t quite justify eating this on a daily basis though, so I had to find a way to get my apple crumble fix in another form. These Apple Crumble Muffins are packed with chunky fresh apple pieces and a subtle cinnamon flavour! They have a lovely soft texture, but the best part is that they’re topped with a sweet, buttery crumble made with Bakers® Good Morning Bran Rusks. That’s right, not only are these...

This caramel apple self-saucing pudding is the perfect dessert for a cold winters eve. It has a crispy crust on top, a moist sponge pudding, and a layer of delicious apple chunks smothered in a gooey caramel sauce underneath. Add a scoop of good quality vanilla ice cream and you have yourself the ultimate comfort food! The magic of a self-saucing pudding is that the batter separates on baking to make a fudgy sponge pudding with a rich sauce underneath. This requires minimum effort on your part - place chopped apple pieces in a dish, pour over a simple batter, sprinkle...

I'm sure you've heard about the Dalgona Coffee craze that took TikTok by storm earlier this year. Well, I'm here to tell you about the next internet food craze - pancake cereal! It's not hard to see why this genius idea is going viral on social media - I mean, eating mini little golden crunchy pancakes with a spoon, covered in your favourite topping? Yes please! Whether you choose to pour milk over them and eat them like cereal, or add a knob of butter and a generous drizzle of syrup and eat them like pancakes is entirely up to you! Either...

In an ironic twist of fate, I married a man that doesn't have a sweet tooth. He's not a fan of desserts or chocolate or cake. I know, right?! I learned early on though that he does have one weakness when it comes to desserts: Apple Crumble. My husband loves Apple Crumble so much that he developed his own recipe which he knew only by "feel" (yet could duplicate perfectly every time he made it!). I can honestly and unbiasedly say his apple crumble recipe is perfect. Seriously. The apples are cooked just enough (not mushy but not too hard)...
