Homemade Dark Chocolate

Fact: chocolate is one of the most popular food products in the world. Newsflash: now you can make it quickly and easily at home! This is because cacao products such as cacao butter and cacao paste are now available to the general public – yay!

Making your own chocolate means you can customise the sweetness and flavour to your liking.  The quantity of sugar in this recipe can be increased or decreased, or try using creamed honey instead. Play around with adding some orange zest, nuts, coffee, dried berries or cookie chunks.

This dark chocolate is completely vegan and dairy-free. If you prefer milk chocolate to dark chocolate then watch this space, as I’m working on a homemade milk chocolate recipe too.

Ingredients:

25g Soaring Free Superfoods Cacao Butter (Available at Faithful to Nature)
40g Soaring Free Superfoods Cacao Paste (Available at Faithful to Nature)
25g icing sugar, sifted (or 35g creamed honey for a non-vegan option)

Directions:

  • Place all ingredients into a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. Do not allow the water to touch the bowl.
  • Heat gently, stirring often, until all ingredients are melted and the sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour into chocolate moulds and leave to set at room temperature, away from moisture, for a few hours.
  • Unmould and enjoy!
