I was one of a select few guests that was invited to visit the Cherry Time farm in Worcester this past weekend. We had a fantastic day picking cherries, learning all about cherry agriculture, and enjoying a picnic lunch in the cherry orchards. I've always loved using cherries in desserts but after learning how tricky they are to grow, I have a new appreciation for these gorgeous little fruits!I returned home with an abundant harvest of plump and juicy cherries, just crying out to be used in a fancy, festive dessert. I really wanted to hero the cherries, so much...

Sponsored. Figs are in season right now and I just love using them in desserts! Their beautiful purple skin and crimson flesh look so striking and luscious. Ripe figs have a sweet and nutty flavour that pairs particularly well with creamy, tangy Danone Nutriday Double Cream Plain Yoghurt. Walnuts and figs also go wonderfully together, so I combined all three to make a beautiful, seasonal dessert. Since the yoghurt is unsweetened, a touch of honey really brings this dessert to life. Feel free to adjust the amount of honey to taste! *For a lighter dessert or breakfast parfait, omit the cream from the...

In an ironic twist of fate, I married a man that doesn't have a sweet tooth. He's not a fan of desserts or chocolate or cake. I know, right?! I learned early on though that he does have one weakness when it comes to desserts: Apple Crumble. My husband loves Apple Crumble so much that he developed his own recipe which he knew only by "feel" (yet could duplicate perfectly every time he made it!). I can honestly and unbiasedly say his apple crumble recipe is perfect. Seriously. The apples are cooked just enough (not mushy but not too hard)...

Biscuits & Cookies, Brownies & Bars, Recipes / 22.03.2019

This is one of those shamelessly decadent recipes. I mean, as if a crumble wasn't yummy enough, you make it even more delicious by making it a chocolate crumble. And a fruit filling? Nope, we're going with a creamy caramel custard instead! It's no secret that chocolate and caramel are a match made in heaven. The combination of textures is what really makes these Chocolate and Caramel Crumble  Squares a winner though. An ultra-creamy, smooth caramel custard sandwiched between 2 layers of buttery, crumbly biscuit - is indeed as good as it sounds! Since the caramel filling is quite sweet, I added...

There is something about layered desserts that looks so striking. Having several layers in one dessert means a different combination of flavours and textures in every bite! These Mini Milo Trifles consist of layers of crunchy biscuit, chocolate ganache, soft condensed milk jelly, malty Milo custard and a swirl of whipped cream to finish. Although each layer is easy to make, this dessert does require some planning as the layers need to cool and set in time before adding the next layer.  Your patience will however be rewarded when you see the resulting mini trifles, just begging to be tasted! P.S. Milo...

Muffins & Buns, Recipes / 11.08.2016

Bananas. As much as I like them, I always seem to have a few over-ripe ones lying in the fruit bowl. Why? Because the whole bunch ripens at exactly the same time and no matter how much you like banana's, five in one day is too many.  Since I hate wasting food, my solution is to transform them into a delicious batch of banana muffins. Not just any muffins though. These ones have a sweet and crunchy brown sugar crumble topping that transforms them from boring to blissful! These muffins are best served the day you make them, preferably warm from the oven with a generous smudge of...
