29 Jul Honey & Vanilla Dalgona Coffee with Bakers® Good Morning Rusks
When Bakers® sent me a box of their Good Morning Bran Rusks the first thing I did was put the kettle on! I mean, rusks are made for dunking right? After enjoying my rusk with a cup of tea, I got to thinking that making a delicious and slightly fancy hot beverage to enjoy with my rusks would be a great incentive to get out of bed on a cold winter’s morning.
The Dalgona Coffee craze took the internet by storm earlier this year when a South Korean actor compared the taste and texture of a whipped coffee he had to the Korean honeycomb candy known as Dalgona. The trend went viral on TikTok and YouTube, and all of a sudden our social media feeds were inundated with pics this trendy beverage! By simply whipping instant coffee, sugar and water, one can create a frothy Dalgona coffee foam which is used as a topping on hot or cold milk.
I decided to try a honey and vanilla version, and it really is delicious! It’s the perfect drink for dipping your Bakers® Good Morning Bran Rusks into!
For the Dalgona coffee:
30ml instant coffee (2 Tbsp)
30ml honey (2 Tbsp)
30ml hot water (2 Tbsp)
For the honey and vanilla latte:
5ml honey (1 tsp)
5ml vanilla extract or essence (1 tsp)
Bakers® Good Morning Bran Rusks, to serve
- Start by making the Dalgona coffee. Place the instant coffee, honey and hot water into a medium-sized bowl. Use an electric mixer to whisk the mixture until thick and frothy, about 4-5 minutes. Alternatively, you can whisk the mixture by hand but it will take longer!
- Heat the milk and honey together until almost boiling. Stir in the vanilla extract. Divide the hot milk between two large mugs, then top with a generous amount of the frothy coffee mixture.
- Serve with a plate of Bakers® Good Morning Bran Rusks.
*This drink can also be enjoyed cold – simply stir the cold milk, honey and vanilla extract together then top with the Dalgona coffee.
